Municipalities have a primary role in protecting and enhancing the Greenbelt, by supporting agriculture, working to restore natural systems, and managing growth in a way to reduce sprawl and prevent inefficient development.
As the Co-Chairs of Municipal Leaders for the Greenbelt (MLGB), we challenge all candidates in the 2018 municipal election to sign the Greenbelt Pledge – a commitment to ensuring permanent protection of the Greenbelt in order to protect water, natural heritage and agricultural systems throughout the Greater Golden Horseshoe region.
